A Week Full of Local Fun You Won’t Want to Miss
One of the best parts about living here is that balance between small-town comfort and big energy. You don’t have to travel far to find something special — it’s all happening right in our backyard. This week proves it, with events that bring people together, give kids a chance to learn and play, and remind us how much fun community life can be.
TurtleBox Tailgate Giveaway
If you’re in the mood for a little excitement, the TurtleBox Tailgate Giveaway is the place to be. With half-price packs, $400 pack games, and a $1,400 jackpot, there’s plenty of energy (and plenty of chances to win). It’s happening at Crystal Ball Lucky 7, and multiple winners will walk away happy
Children’s Book Club
Starting September 17, every Wednesday afternoon becomes a little brighter with the Children’s Book Club. Ms. Kaylee brings stories to life while kids paint a ceramic or resin piece inspired by the book. Add in snacks and a take-home craft, and it’s the perfect mix of fun and learning. Their painted pieces will be ready in about two weeks, making it a little surprise to look forward to.
Paint and Sip at Lion Hills
Sometimes the best nights are the simple ones. The Paint and Sip at Lion Hills is just that — an evening with good food, a glass of wine, live music by Kyia King, and a chance to relax with a brush in hand. It’s less about perfect strokes and more about enjoying the time. Space is limited, so call ahead to save your spot.
Rowdy Races 2025
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, downtown Columbus will be buzzing with one of the most welcoming events of the year — Rowdy Races 2025. Held at the Roger Short Soccer Complex, it’s a family-friendly obstacle course where everyone can join in, no matter their ability. Racers can pick their routes, with options for wheels or feet, and the course features everything from inflatables and tires to foam and a color run. It’s completely free, but RSVPs are encouraged so kids can be registered and ready to go. Hosted by the Rowdy Foundation, it’s all about celebrating inclusion and community spirit.
Cotton Pickin Night #2
Racing fans, this one’s for you. Cotton Pickin Night #2 brings the roar of the Comp Cams Super Dirt Late Models, competing for a $20,000 win. With last chance races and the A Main all lined up for Saturday, you can count on a night full of high-speed action. It’s one of those events that makes the energy in town feel just a little bigger.
Weeks like this are a good reminder of how lucky we are to live in a place where there’s always something to look forward to — whether it’s a quiet night with friends, a family outing, or the roar of a racetrack. So, which of these events feels right for you?
